Latvian basketball player Janis Timma was found dead in Moscow, Russian state media reported on Tuesday.

The 32-year-old was discovered at the entrance of a residential building in central Moscow. Authorities suspect suicide as the cause of death, according to local news agencies.

A phone found near his body reportedly displayed the message “call Anya,” referring to his ex-wife, Russian-Ukrainian singer Anna Sedokova. The couple recently finalized their divorce after a tumultuous four-year marriage.

Timma was a celebrated EuroLeague player who competed for top teams like Olympiacos and Khimki. He also played for Latvia’s national basketball team and recently joined a 3×3 team in Moscow.

Tributes have flooded in from fans and fellow athletes. Latvian NBA star Kristaps Porzingis posted on social media, “Human connection is the cornerstone of our mental health. Please, let’s look after one another. Rest in peace, JT.”

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding Timma’s death. Preliminary reports indicate asphyxiation as the cause police have said.
