Two Students Shot at Nashville High School, Shooter in Custody

NASHVILLE, Tenn. At least two students were injured in a shooting at Antioch High School in Nashville on Wednesday morning, Metro Nashville Police confirmed. The incident occurred around 11 a.m. in the school cafeteria when another student allegedly opened fire.

The shooter reportedly turned the gun on himself after injuring the students. His condition and those of the wounded students remain unknown.

“Antioch High School is on lockdown due to shots being fired inside the school building,” the school district stated. “Metro Police are on the scene. The person responsible for the shooting is no longer a threat.”

Authorities are gathering students in the auditorium and will provide details on reunification plans for parents and families.

The high school, located in Nashville’s Antioch neighborhood, serves approximately 2,000 students in grades 9 through 12. Multiple agencies, including the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Tennessee Homeland Security, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, are assisting in the response.

This shooting marks another tragic incident for the Nashville community, which experienced a devastating attack in March 2023 at The Covenant School, where six people, including three children, were killed.
