BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Hudson Meek, a teenage actor known for his role in “Baby Driver,” died December 21 from injuries sustained after falling from a moving vehicle in Vestavia Hills, Alabama. He was 16.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s office confirmed Meek suffered blunt force trauma in the December 19 incident and was treated at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital before succumbing to his injuries two days later.
Meek began his career playing the younger version of Ansel Elgort’s character in the 2017 film “Baby Driver.” He went on to voice the lead role in the children’s series “Badanamu Stories” and appeared in television shows including NBC’s “Found,” The CW’s “Legacies,” and the recent thriller “The School Duel.”
“His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met,” read a statement posted to Meek’s Instagram account.
According to his obituary, Meek was an adventurous spirit who loved outdoor activities, particularly snow skiing, often choosing challenging trails his family members avoided. He was also passionate about water sports, including tubing and wakeboarding.
The Vestavia Hills Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident. Officials have not released additional details about the incident.
Friends and colleagues remembered Meek as a “reflective and thoughtful” young man whose brief career showed considerable promise in both television and film.
The young actor’s death has sparked an outpouring of tributes from castmates and industry professionals who worked with him throughout his career.
