Meghan King Temporarily Loses Custody of Children After CPS Inquiry; December Hearing Set

Meghan King, a former cast member on The Real Housewives of Orange County, has temporarily lost custody of her three children to ex-husband Jim Edmonds following a recent Child Protective Services investigation, according to multiple reports released Wednesday.

The custody modification — issued within the past several months — grants Edmonds sole physical custody of the couple’s children and limits King to supervised visitation. The inquiry reportedly began after a school employee contacted CPS with concerns involving King, prompting an investigation that ultimately led to the temporary ruling. TMZ first reported that CPS findings influenced the custody change, while Us Weekly confirmed details of the supervised visitation order.

Court records indicate the arrangement is not final. A hearing scheduled for early December is expected to determine whether the supervised visitation order will remain in effect or revert to a shared arrangement. Representatives for Edmonds declined to comment, and King did not immediately respond to requests for comment from People and other outlets.

King, 41, and Edmonds, 54, were married from 2014 until 2019, finalising their divorce two years later. They share daughter Aspen, 8, and twins Hart and Hayes, 7. The couple’s post-divorce relationship has been contentious, with disputes frequently surfacing in court filings and on social media. Edmonds later married Kortnie O’Connor in 2022 after the couple went public with their relationship in 2020.

The custody shift comes amid renewed tension surrounding a May 1 confrontation at Edmonds’ Missouri home that resulted in police involvement. Body camera footage obtained by Us Weekly shows King telling officers that Edmonds was “emotionally abusive” during the exchange. In the footage and accompanying report, she alleged, “He uses his name to push me around and his money,” while insisting she had only come to deliver clothing to her daughter.

According to a Frontenac Police Department report, officers responded after O’Connor, 40, called 911, claiming King had entered the home without permission and was “causing a disturbance.” Police said they had been notified King was at the residence multiple times throughout the day, and the department dispatched officers after receiving a third complaint.

King told officers she had spoken with Edmonds earlier to coordinate the drop-off and said she had attempted to contact O’Connor as well. No arrests were made during the incident. While O’Connor initially indicated she intended to pursue harassment charges, she later informed officers she did not wish to proceed. The local prosecutor ultimately declined to file charges, closing the matter.

Edmonds’ representative strongly pushed back on King’s allegations, telling People, “As usual, Meghan is telling tales. She and Jim barely communicate, so if someone is emotionally abusing her, it’s not Jim. And she is not getting full custody; Jim is an active and present father to all his children.” The spokesperson added that “the unfortunate part of all this is that it’s the kids who suffer the most,” noting Edmonds “has always been willing to co-parent in a respectful and productive way, however, Meghan has yet to reciprocate.”

Legal experts say temporary supervised visitation orders are often implemented when CPS finds sufficient cause for concern but requires further assessment before determining a long-term arrangement. Missouri law allows courts to restrict visitation on a temporary basis pending a full judicial review.

The December hearing is expected to be pivotal in determining how the couple’s custody structure will proceed. For now, King’s access to her children remains supervised as the investigation’s findings and court evaluations continue.
